🚨 Rat Alert in Cardiff! 🚨

Residents in the Grangetown area of Cardiff are sounding the alarm on an extraordinary increase in rat sightings. With waste issues, fly-tipping, and less-than-ideal housing conditions, our furry foes have been spotted scurrying across gardens, alleyways, and even near homes and schools.
Local pest control experts report this is the “worst they’ve seen” in decades, and it seems the rats are taking full advantage of the city’s waste woes. Ms Jones, a Grangetown resident, lamented, “Seriously, they are everywhere!” The familiar warning rings true—where there’s one rat, there might be fifty more lurking.

Particularly hit are dense terraced streets and areas near large retailers like Ikea. Gareth Johns, another resident, emphasised that while traps and bait might provide temporary relief, the root causes—access to food and shelter—need to be addressed.

Cardiff Council advises residents to seal possible entryways, keep properties tidy, and ensure food waste is properly disposed of. They do offer a pest control service for £65, covering up to three visits, which could be a worthwhile investment for those struggling with an infestation.
If you’re affected, it’s crucial to stay vigilant. Keep gardens clean and secure, and report any fly-tipping or unsanitary conditions to the council. Remember, prevention is your best defence! 🐀✨
