Legislator in Custody for Alleged Second Rape and Sexual Assault Incident

Breaking News: A North East Somerset and Hanham MP, Dan Norris, has been arrested again on serious charges. This time, he’s facing allegations of rape, sexual assault, voyeurism, and upskirting involving multiple women. Last year, Mr Norris was arrested on suspicion of sexual offences, including rape and child abduction. Though the investigations into offences against children have concluded, inquiries continue into the original charges of rape and misconduct in public office.

Despite these fresh allegations, Mr Norris, who was suspended from the Labour Party, remains on conditional bail. He made waves politically by securing the North East Somerset and Hanham seat in the 2024 general election, unseating high-profile former cabinet minister Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg. Before that, he was the Mayor of the West of England and served in parliament from 1997 to 2010.

Though the police haven’t officially named Mr Norris, media sources suggest he is at the centre of these ongoing investigations. A petition demanding his resignation has gathered nearly 3,000 signatures. Allegations like these are serious, and the investigations can be lengthy, involving complex and sensitive work by the police.
