We bid farewell to a running legend and beloved community figure, Keith Powell, who passed away at 73 on January 31, 2026. Keith was the heart and soul behind the Cornelly Striders, a running club in Bridgend that has grown from a handful of enthusiasts to a vibrant community of 160 members over 40 years. Known for his cheerful spirit and dedication, Keith was a constant presence at local running events and a proud participant in Porthcawl Parkrun, where he completed an incredible 450 events.

Even through his battle with acute myeloid leukaemia, diagnosed in 2024, Keith’s passion for running never wavered. When he wasn’t up for running, he was there cheering others on from the sidelines—his presence a source of inspiration to many.

Keith was a drummer at heart and played in several bands, bringing the same zest for life to music as he did to running.
