ποΈ Trouble in Paradise for Popular Welsh Campsite! π²

The much-loved Cwmdu Caravan and Camping Site near Crickhowell, nestled within the beautiful Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, has hit a bit of a bump in the road. Despite its fantastic reputation, having scooped accolades like “Best Campsite in Wales,” it turns out some of its caravan pitches were set up without official approval! π±

Owners Sarah and Martyn Farr recently applied to get 99 pitches (31 permanent and 68 touring) recognised as lawful, hoping to make things right. Sadly, their application was turned down with planners stating that the evidence wasnβt clear enough to prove the pitches’ continuous use over the past decade.
Founded back in 1964 by Olive and Eric Farr, this family-run site has continued to charm visitors with its array of glamping options, holiday cottages, and its picturesque setting. For those who have visited, itβs easy to see why it holds so many titles like the “Best Family Campsite in Mid Wales.” π‘β¨
Whether you’ve already experienced the magic of Cwmdu or itβs still on your list, what do you think about this planning pickle? Will it affect your future travel plans to this lovely spot? Share your thoughts! π
