Tragic Loss: Man Found Dead After Drug Overdose in Cardiff
In a heartbreaking incident, Mathew Paul Trigg, 44, was found dead at a friend’s house in the Trowbridge area of Cardiff. An inquest revealed he died from a lethal mix of heroin, cocaine, and pregabalin—a prescription drug typically used to treat epilepsy, anxiety, and nerve pain. Mathew’s past struggles with substance addiction and mental health issues were known, and while he received support until late 2024, he had disengaged from services.
On January 14, 2025, Mathew’s life was tragically cut short at a friend’s place on Ferntree Drive. Born in Newport but residing in Rumney at the time of his passing, Mathew’s death serves as a somber reminder of the dangers posed by drug misuse. Area coroner Patricia Morgan concluded it was a drug-related death, compounded by pneumonia.
