Busted for Benefit Fraud! 🏠💰

Meet Kathryn Llewelyn, a 50-year-old who’s been labelled a “greedy liar” by a judge at Cardiff Crown Court. With five houses, a caravan, and a whopping £85k stashed in her savings, she was still claiming benefits. For nearly a decade, she pocketed £39,283 in benefits while owning properties in Porth, Tonyrefail, Tonypandy, and Ystrad, plus a lovely caravan in Trecco Bay that she rented out. Talk about a double life!

Her dishonesty didn’t go unnoticed for long. An investigation revealed the undeclared properties and savings, leading to her admitting the fraud. Even though she’s now repaid the benefits, her sneaky scheme drew harsh words from Judge Paul Thomas KC, who called her a “thoroughly dishonest woman” and a “conwoman.”

Llewelyn’s defence argued that her upbringing in a military family disrupted her education and contributed to her actions. Despite these claims, she received a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, alongside a £3,000 fine to be paid in 56 days.
