Attention parents! Danone and Nestlé have issued urgent recalls for certain Aptamil and Cow & Gate baby formulas. This comes after the discovery of a toxin, cereulide, linked to 36 cases of food poisoning in children.
The affected products include various Aptamil and Cow & Gate formulas, including first infant milk, follow-on milk, and special formulas. The issue traces back to a shared ingredient supplier, which the companies have since discontinued using.
Symptoms of the toxin include vomiting and stomach cramps, appearing as quickly as 15 minutes after consumption. Although these symptoms usually resolve within 24 hours, immediate medical advice should be sought if your child has consumed the affected formula.
