The push for change is based on data from the past three years that recorded eight collisions, three of them serious. The Council believes that slowing traffic down will lead to fewer and less severe accidents, offering road users more time to react to potential hazards.
But not everyone is on board. South Wales Police has pulled its support, expressing doubts that the speed changes will significantly impact road safety. They pointed out the absence of footpaths and cycling lanes as ongoing issues and raised concerns about the added strain on policing resources that enforcement would require. 🚨
Despite these concerns, the Council is moving forward, and soon you’ll see LED signs along the routes reminding drivers of the new limits, complete with enhanced warnings to alert you to bends and other hazards. 🚦
