Exciting times for Pembrokeshire’s dairy industry! 🐄 Langdon Mill Farm, one of the region’s largest dairy farms, is gearing up for major expansion with a brand-new 160m-long heifer accommodation building now approved. The farm, which already boasts a milking herd of 2,000 cows, is about to become even more efficient with this new facility, along with a state-of-the-art slurry separation and dewatering setup.
Located near Jeffreyston, Kilgetty, Langdon Mill Farm has been at the forefront of agricultural innovation, investing in modern infrastructure over the past decade, including milking facilities, calf accommodation, and an anaerobic digestion plant. With cows yielding over 10,000 litres each per year, it’s a bustling hub of activity, employing 21 full-time and three part-time staff from the local area. 🐮
This new development will see heifers aged between 7 and 22 months housed in the newly approved structure, strategically located next to existing calf buildings. By breeding most of its replacements, the farm is not just boosting efficiency but also safeguarding against bovine tuberculosis threats.
