After an inspiring 35-year career in medicine, Sean Watermeyer has turned the page—literally! This former NHS consultant has penned a delightful children’s book called “Bernie the Christmas Spirit and the Wales Air Ambulance.” Having spent 19 years as a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Sean’s new venture continues his commitment to helping others.

Why the leap from medicine to children’s literature? Inspired by watching the Wales Air Ambulance in action from his home, Sean wanted to give back to this incredible charity, which conducts around 3,500 life-saving missions yearly. Amazing, right? Entirely funded by donations, the air ambulance is a crucial service, and every book sold supports their vital work.

Sean has always worn many hats. Besides his NHS tenure, he’s served as a squadron doctor in the RAF, been a cancer lead, and chaired a charity committee. His stories aren’t just fairy tales—they’re imbued with life lessons from a seasoned career. Sean’s mission? To spread messages of love, decency, and kindness with his “Bernie” series, which began in 2020.

The latest book will soon hit the shelves of Wales Air Ambulance’s charity shops and be available on Amazon and in Waterstones. Thrilled to have the support of major retailers, Sean hopes to inspire readers both young and old to appreciate the unsung heroes among us.
So if you’re on the hunt for a feel-good read that gives back, look no further! This story not only delights but also highlights the incredible work of the Wales Air Ambulance team. A big shoutout to Sean for making a difference in a uniquely creative way!
