Exciting news, Cardiff! The city’s metro upgrade is gearing up as a new construction compound has been secured to support the enhancement of our railway stations. Transport for Wales has been given the green light by Cardiff Council to use a temporary site at Roath Dock Road. This hub will play a crucial role in the development of the new Butetown Station and alterations to Cardiff Bay Station, alongside work at Cardiff Queen Street Station.
Expect major improvements designed to modernise our public transport network, offering more services at higher quality and boosting connectivity across the city. The facilities will include space for storage of machinery and equipment, as well as contractor offices and parking. With the site being a former disused car park, it’s making way for the future – without impacting local ecology or character.
During peak construction, around 30 heavy goods vehicles are expected to come through daily, so keep an eye out!
