💥 Important Alert for Pet Owners! 💥

Heads up, all you lovely pet parents! The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has flagged a potential health risk lurking in certain raw pet foods. 🚨 Some of these products might contain harmful bacteria, including Salmonella and Campylobacter, which are bad news for both your furry friends and you. They can cause symptoms like diarrhoea, stomach cramps, fever, and more.

🦠 Raw pet food usually consists of unprocessed meat, offal, and raw bones. It sounds all natural, but it can also be a breeding ground for nasty bacteria that cooking would normally kill off. So, what can we do? Here are some top tips to keep everyone in your household healthy:

1️⃣ Wash your hands thoroughly after handling raw pet food.
2️⃣ Clean and disinfect all pet bowls, utensils, and surfaces.
3️⃣ Store pet food separately from human food.
4️⃣ Handle pet faeces with care and always clean up properly.
Recent surveys checked over 380 raw pet food products, and the results were shocking: 35% contained harmful bacteria, and 29% didn’t meet safety standards. Yikes! This isn’t just about a dodgy tummy—there’s also the risk of spreading antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
🐾 If you’re a fan of raw pet food, don’t panic! Just take extra precautions, and you’ll be keeping your pets and your family safe and sound. The Food Standards Agency is working hard alongside local authorities to ensure food safety, but they remind all pet owners to follow good hygiene practices.
Remember, safe handling is key when working with any raw foods, whether for you or your pets. For more detailed advice, check out guidance from experts or talk to your vet.
Stay safe and give your pet an extra hug today! 🐶🐱❤️
