Shocking Attack in Caerphilly: Man Attacked in His Own Home!

In a chilling incident, Ian Prosser, 40, launched a brutal attack on Steven Welch right inside his home. With a “big smile,” Prosser barged into the house and headbutted Welch, who was immediately knocked unconscious. But the violence didn’t stop there—Prosser continued to kick and stamp on Welch, leaving him in a pool of blood.

The horror unfolded as Welch was simply watching TV before answering a loud knock, thinking it was his partner. Instead, he was met with violence. Not even Welch’s partner could stop the rampage; she was shoved against a wall when trying to intervene.

Cardiff Crown Court heard how the violent episode left Welch injured and fearful as Prosser continued to shout threats at him. The police soon arrived, and Prosser, who initially downplayed his actions, later admitted to assault.
Despite the severity of the attack, Prosser, who faced no previous convictions, was sentenced to 13 months in prison and was issued a restraining order. Was it a premeditated attack or a spontaneous outburst fuelled by alcohol? The court heard differing views, but one thing is clear—this brutal act has shocked the community.
Our hearts go out to Mr Welch, and we hope for justice and peace for him and his partner. Stay safe out there, everyone! #Caerphilly #CrimeNews #StaySafe
