π¨ Important National Insurance Update! π¨

HMRC has issued a crucial update about paperwork for National Insurance (NI) taxpayers. With a deadline looming in April, itβs time to check your NI details and ensure your contributions are up to date. This affects your entitlement to the state pension, which could be up to Β£230.25 weekly if you have 35 years of contributions. You’ll need at least 10 years of contributions to qualify for any pension amount.

Labour MP Juliet Campbell recently questioned Chancellor Rachel Reeves over processing times for A1 certificates, which were facing delays of up to seven months back in October 2025. These certificates are essential if you are self-employed and working in:

– EU countries
– Gibraltar
– Iceland
– Liechtenstein
– Norway
– Switzerland
Treasury minister Dan Tomlinson assured that HMRC is ramping up efforts to improve and expedite the service. With additional National Insurance advisers being trained, the aim is to process 80% of online applications within 15 working days and 80% of postal applications within 40 working days by the end of the tax year.
For a smoother experience, it’s advised to apply online for an A1 certificate. Remember, you can apply no more than 12 months before starting work abroad. Secure your application by verifying your identity with a photo ID like a passport or driving licence.
Find more details and submit your application on the Government website. Stay ahead and ensure everything is sorted to avoid any disruptions! πποΈπΌ
