Tragedy has struck the world of rugby as Quentin Philippe, the cherished captain of Annecy-le-Vieux Rugby Club, lost his life in a devastating avalanche in the Italian Alps. The 29-year-old was skiing with friends in the picturesque Courmayeur area when disaster struck, claiming the lives of Philippe and his companions, Hugo Neuville and Alexis Rassat.

Philippe, known for his loyalty, respect, and valiant spirit, was a key figure in his club’s recent successes, leading them to remarkable achievements, including the Alpes committee and Auvergne Rhône-Alpes league titles. In a heartfelt statement, his club expressed their devastation and paid tribute to a leader who was more than a captain—they described him as their strategist and motivator during challenging seasons.
“Quentin was loyal to our colours for many years, instrumental in rebuilding the club,” the statement read. His influence went beyond the field as he unified the team with stats, analysis, and an unwavering spirit. Annecy-le-Vieux is heartbroken, yet they hold on to the memory of a captain who will forever watch over them from above.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Quentin’s family, friends, and teammates during this incredibly difficult time. His legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. #RugbyFamily #RIPQuentinPhilippe
