Last Friday’s match saw Kennedy accused by the Swedish team of a double touch, which he fiercely denied, leading to a verbal clash with Sweden’s Oskar Eriksson. Words were exchanged, and Kennedy was even issued a warning for ‘inappropriate language’, though no cheating charges were officially made against him. Despite the tension, Canada emerged victorious with an 8-6 win.

Kennedy didn’t hold back, later expressing: “I probably could have handled it better, but I’m standing up for my mates and myself. I’ve never curled with cheating intentions.”

But that’s not all! Canada’s women’s team found themselves facing similar accusations against Switzerland. Rachel Homan was taken aback by the claims and firmly denied any wrongdoing.

Kennedy believes Sweden had a strategy to catch the team out at the hog line with specially placed cameras. “This was planned,” he said, pointing at what he feels is a deliberate move against them. Coach Paul Webster backed him up, alleging Sweden pulled similar tactics with other teams.

Niklas Edin from Sweden countered, saying, “We’ve been voicing concerns about Canadian rule-breaking for years.” They insist the cameras were placed to clarify ongoing rule disputes, not as a personal attack.

Adding to the drama, during a later match against Switzerland, Pablo Lachat Couchepin raised the alarm on another potential double touch by Canada but stressed it’s not personal and admired Kennedy’s skill and fairness.

Curling fans, what do you think? Is this a case of a justified watch on fair play, or an unfair setup? Let’s hear your thoughts! 🥌🇨🇦 #CurlingDrama #WinterOlympics2026
