Scandal in the reality TV world! Seven stars from Love Island and TOWIE, including Lauren Goodger and Yazmin Oukhellou, have pleaded guilty to illegal promotions on Instagram. These influencers, boasting massive follower counts, were caught pushing foreign exchange trading tips without the proper qualifications or FCA authorisation.

The Financial Conduct Authority launched a landmark case in 2024 against these reality stars for their unregulated promotion of FX trading. Goodger, with over 750,000 followers, was accused of endorsing an account offering “amazing deals” and “free signals” without understanding the risks involved.

The court heard that Goodger received £2,275 for four promotional posts that potentially misled her followers. One follower even lost £150 after being persuaded by Goodger’s posts, believing the scheme was legitimate.

Goodger broke down in tears during her January court appearance, insisting she believed the promotion was genuine. However, the judge emphasised her responsibility, highlighting that her actions were purely financially motivated. As a result, Goodger faces a £3,750 fine and costs of nearly £5,800, serving as a deterrent to others considering such reckless promotions.
Meanwhile, fellow Love Island star Zapico received an absolute discharge but must pay £1,770 in costs. Gormley got a conditional discharge with costs totalling £2,866, and Chris was fined £600. The lesson? Fame comes with responsibility, and endorsements should be made wisely to avoid misleading the public. Stay savvy, folks! 🌟📉
