A hotel receptionist in Aberystwyth made a shocking discovery when she found two guests unconscious, surrounded by drugs. When the police arrived, they found Lee Anderson-Warnes and another man amidst this troubling scene. A search of their room revealed drug-related messages on Anderson-Warnes’s phone, linked to the supply of heroin and cocaine.

Anderson-Warnes, 28, admitted to his crimes and faced Swansea Crown Court, where they heard his side of the story – a young man struggling with personal losses and a burden of drug debt. Despite having nine previous convictions, he claimed not to have profited from the drug supply, which he undertook to settle his debts. His lawyer described his journey into crime as a “cliché,” the result of personal issues spiralling out of control.
Judge Huw Rees, aware of Anderson-Warnes’s tragic circumstances, reminded him of where the wrong choices could lead and emphasised the importance of change. Anderson-Warnes was sentenced to 22 months in prison, with Judge Rees urging him to rethink his future and start afresh upon release.

It serves as a stark reminder of the profound impact drug misuse can have, not just on the individual but also on those around them. Let’s hope Anderson-Warnes and others facing similar battles find the strength to turn their lives around.
