Tragic news from the heart of the Eryri mountain range as two young adventurers, Eddie Hill, 20, and Jayden Long, 19, have been confirmed to have lost their lives. Following an extensive search effort across the challenging terrain of Yr Wyddfa, their bodies were sadly discovered after they went missing on an expedition.

Hailing from Dereham, Norfolk, the young men are remembered by friends and family as “amazing” and “beautiful” souls who brought joy to everyone around them. They were not just sons and brothers but best friends whose bright spirits touched everyone they met. One heartbroken friend expressed, “Ed and Jay, you will always be my best friends. I feel privileged to have shared so many moments with you.”

The search operation involved numerous teams, including Llanberis Mountain Rescue, RAF Mountain Rescue, and HM Coastguard, all braving harsh winter conditions to find Eddie and Jayden. Sadly, despite their determined efforts, the outcome was not what anyone hoped for. Jurgen Dissmann, Chair of the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team, extended heartfelt condolences, highlighting the tireless dedication of all the search teams involved.
As the community reels from this loss, it’s a poignant reminder of the precious, unpredictable nature of life and the enduring bond of friendship. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of Eddie and Jayden at this incredibly difficult time. May their bright souls rest in peace. 💔
