🏖️ Stranded Dreams at Sandy Cove – A Beachside Saga 🌊

Back in the 1930s, the allure of beachside bliss lured many to snap up holiday homes at Sandy Cove in beautiful Kinmel Bay. Nestled next to golden sands, these homes promised the ultimate coastal retreat. Fast forward to today and the dream has turned into a continuing saga of headaches for residents.

Decades ago, excited buyers were quick to invest, unaware of the lurking issues that would persist for generations. As far back as 1944, concerns were raised in Parliament about the lack of essential infrastructure like roads and sewers. To this day, the roads remain unadopted, riddled with potholes, and plagued by frequent flooding. 🚧

🏡 With over 250 homes now mostly owned by locals, this once-promising estate is in dire need of help. Calls for action have recently echoed in the halls of Welsh Government with Clwyd West MS Darren Millar urging for a solution. Efforts by Conwy County Borough Council revealed an eye-watering £5.5 million repair bill, leaving residents stuck between a rock and a hard place.
💡 So far, only preliminary steps have been funded, leaving residents without basic amenities like street lighting and proper pavements. For many, particularly those with mobility issues, these inadequacies have turned daily life into a struggle.
Can the Welsh Government rally local authorities and communities together to finally pave the way forward? The area is crying out for intervention to transform these once-dreamy holiday homes into safe, liveable spaces.
