Exciting news for fitness fans in Monmouthshire! Caldicot Leisure Centre is set to get a major boost with £600,000 earmarked for brand-new gym equipment. After being twice overlooked for Levelling Up funds, Monmouthshire County Council is stepping up to ensure the centre gets the revamp it deserves.

This isn’t the only upgrade on the horizon – work has already started on a swanky new £456,000 all-weather 3G football pitch, thanks to support from the Cymru Football Foundation and Sport Wales. Deputy council leader, Paul Griffiths, is optimistic these improvements will invite more visitors and generate a great return on investment.

Councillor Griffiths shared, “Our team has planned an investment of £600,000 for gym equipment. We believe that top-quality facilities will not only attract users but also bring in a commercial return.”
The centre isn’t stopping here. There are discussions about the bigger development picture, guided by the town’s ‘placemaking group’. This includes potentially replacing the adjoining skate park with a £150,000 facelift – a project welcome by the community and local leaders.
Keep an eye on this local gem, as these combined efforts aim to transform Caldicot into a vibrant destination for locals and visitors along the Severn Estuary. With plans on the move, we’re eager to see how this prospectus shapes the future of leisure facilities at Caldicot. 🏋️♂️⚽
There’s much to look forward to, so stay tuned for updates and the exciting transformations to come!
