✈️ Heads up, travellers! Aer Lingus is shaking things up for your journeys between Ireland and Great Britain. Starting Wednesday, 25th February 2026, you’ll need to have your passport handy. 📜🛂

For years, Aer Lingus has been pretty laid-back about ID requirements, accepting everything from a bus pass to a work ID. But now, they’re aligning with Ryanair and demanding a valid passport or an Irish passport card for everyone zipping between the Republic of Ireland and the UK.
Interestingly, British Airways will continue being more flexible, letting you travel passport-free on their London to Dublin routes. For those flying domestically within Ireland and Northern Ireland with Aer Lingus Regional, you’re still in the clear with your current ID choices.

In case you’re scratching your head about the rules, the Irish Government says passports aren’t mandatory for Irish and British citizens travelling in the Common Travel Area. But many airlines, like Aer Lingus, are insisting on passports as the go-to ID. 📝✈️
Keep this in mind while planning your next trip to avoid any last-minute surprises at the airport! 🌐✨ Safe travels, everyone!
