“Rejuvenated Leah Middleton Set to Ignite Dragons Following Successful Return from ACL Injury”

Leah Middleton is back and ready to make waves for the Dragons after enduring a gruelling ACL recovery. The 30-year-old netball star faced a potential career-ending injury last March during a LexisNexis Dragons match that was postponed due to her compound ankle dislocation. Despite the setback, she’s now more determined than ever to shine in both the Super League and her debut Commonwealth Games for Wales.

Reflecting on her journey, Leah admits it was tough. “In the early days, it was hard to realise the severity of my injury. The adrenaline and pain relief masked how serious it was,” she shares. But with a clear vision, focusing on the Super League and the Commonwealth Games as her ultimate goals, she pushed through the rocky times. Now, she’s thrilled to leave the past behind and start a “completely new chapter.”

Originally moving to Australia as a child, Leah began her netball journey down under before returning to the UK to join Surrey Storm and later the Cardiff-based Dragons in 2024. She impressed in her debut season, but her second act was curtailed by the injury. Now recovered, she’s set for a comeback to the Super League, with Dragons’ first game against Loughborough Lightning on 28 February.

Leah’s resilience and the support of her team and country have been crucial. She’s adamant about competing at the top to keep her Commonwealth dreams alive. “I’m so lucky to have amazing people backing me,” she says. This determination and gratitude have been vital in getting her back to top form.
