🚨 Immigration raid alert in Carmarthen! 🚨

Florentino’s, the beloved Italian spot renowned for its mouth-watering dishes and stellar reviews, faced an unexpected inspection last Friday. Immigration officers swooped in as part of a check on “illegal working” activities, leading to three arrests right at the heart of Jackson’s Lane.
For those who’ve dined at this 4.5-star restaurant (with over 1,300 Google reviews!), this news might come as a shock. Known for its authenticity and charm, Florentino’s has become a cherished favourite among locals and visitors alike.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time the restaurant has made headlines. Last year, it found itself on HMRC’s radar for tax issues, with a reported £278,561 unpaid between 2016 and 2020, resulting in a hefty penalty. When previously queried, staff members had little to say beyond stating that tax matters were private affairs between the owner and HMRC.
The Home Office didn’t hold back on its stance, firmly declaring, “Illegal working undermines honest employers, undercuts local wages, and fuels organised immigration crime. We’re here to put a stop to it.” With a reported 83% increase in such enforcement actions nationwide, expect to see more of these crackdowns in the coming months.
What do you think about these developments? Should businesses be given more support, or is strict enforcement the way to go? Drop your thoughts in the comments! 🍕🇬🇧
