🎸✨ Fulfilling a Legend’s Last Wish ✨🎤

In a touching tribute, Welsh classical singer Rhys Meirion has honoured the dying wish of rock icon Mike Peters. Before passing away in April 2025 after a prolonged battle with cancer, Mike reached out to Rhys with a heartfelt request—a Welsh rendition of his beloved song “St David’s Day.”

Originally crafted for the musical “Flesh and Blood,” this track now finds new life thanks to Rhys, accompanied by Mike’s sons, Dylan and Evan, alongside Osian from Candelas, Aled the Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog bassist, and the Trelawnyd Male Voice Choir.
Rhys admits the task was daunting, but Mike was a hero to him. Their special bond and Mike’s enduring spirit, even through his 30-year cancer journey, profoundly inspired Rhys during his own health battles.
Catch this beautiful journey captured by S4C in “Neges Olaf Mike Peters” airing this St David’s Day, Sunday, March 1, at 8.30pm on S4C, S4C Clic, and BBC iPlayer. With both Welsh and English subtitles, let Mike’s legacy and Rhys’s dedication move you.
Mike’s wife, Jules Peters, anticipates an emotional experience, recalling how the song always brought her to tears. It’s bound to be an unforgettable celebration of friendship, music, and resilience. 💔🎶
