Samantha Bryan, the daughter of convicted Soham killer Ian Huntley, has expressed relief after hearing about his recent prison attack that left him critically injured. Huntley, who brutally murdered 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002, was attacked with a metal pole at HMP Frankland. Now fighting for his life, doctors have given him only a 5% chance of survival.

Samantha, who discovered Huntley was her father during a school project at age 14, says the news brought an overwhelming sense of relief. “Being his daughter has been a heavy burden,” she shared, feeling liberated by the possibility of his death. Her mother, Katie, who suffered from Huntley’s violent behaviour, echoed these emotions, hoping he “burns in hell.”
This assault marks the third time Huntley has faced violence in prison. Previously, he had his throat cut in 2010 and survived another attempt eight years later.

The prime suspect in this attack is Anthony Russell, currently serving a life sentence for multiple murders. Though authorities haven’t officially named Russell as the suspect, he reportedly claimed responsibility as he was led away in handcuffs from the scene.

Investigations continue into the incident, shedding light on the grim realities of Huntley’s violent past and the impact his actions have had on his daughter’s life. Share your thoughts in the comments – has justice been served?
