🏉 Epic Drama in Welsh Rugby! 🏉

Sunday’s Super Rygbi Cymru Cup semi-final was a clash for the ages! Newport and Ebbw Vale delivered a heart-stopping thriller at Rodney Parade. It was all happening on the pitch as Newport clinched a spot in the final with a gripping 48-34 triumph over Ebbw Vale after extra time!

Ebbw Vale had everyone on the edge of their seats, levelling the score in the 80+12th minute to force the game beyond normal time. Newport had charged to a 14-0 and 29-17 lead but Ebbw, refusing to back down, made it a nail-biting affair.
The pre-match drama was electrifying too, with Ebbw Vale airing grievances about the fixture’s scheduling, claiming Newport lacked respect. But when the whistle blew, it was all about rugby!
The match was packed with action as players duked it out, resulting in plenty of cards being shown. Newport’s squad made sure to stand their ground, with star performances all around. Harri Ackerman’s try and Jac Lloyd’s spot-on conversion were just a couple of the highlights that sealed the deal for Newport.
Lloyd, celebrating his 50th game with the club, couldn’t hide his amazement. “Mental game, to be honest,” he said post-match. “Ebbw came hard despite their challenges. Hats off to them, but I loved every moment of it.”
Across the border in international news, Wales’ head coach Steve Tandy has some tough choices to make. After three challenging Six Nations matches, he’s about to name the squad facing Ireland. Injuries are a worry though, with Taine Plumtree out and Sam Costelow still rehabbing.
In a bittersweet farewell, rugby also remembers the legendary Claude Lacaze. The Grand Slam-winning French full-back, who carved out history with 33 caps, sadly passed at 85. His contributions both on and off the pitch left an indelible legacy. Merci, Claude! 🇫🇷
