Exciting times for Barry! The transformation of St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School is officially underway. With a whopping £67.5 million investment, this ultra-modern upgrade promises to be a game-changer for the community. Set to be completed by the end of next year, the project replaces the old structures, with a complete demolition set for December 2028.

Celebrating sustainability and innovation, the new design includes eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient systems, and solar energy to align with Project Zero’s carbon-neutral goals by 2030. Students can look forward to outdoor spaces filled with greenery, a cycle shelter, and a swanky new snack bar. A 3G sports pitch and a Multiuse Games Area will cater to both the school and the wider community.

Special attention is given to children with Additional Learning Needs (ALNs), providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all. Plus, a green roof will aid drainage and boost ecological benefits.
Not to mention, the school hall is getting a full sound system and lighting for impressive performances. With such a modern makeover, St Richard Gwyn is set to become the beacon of education in Barry.
