Recent figures reveal a troubling 14.7% rise in fly-tipping incidents, resulting in over 1,500 fines issued last year alone. Newport sets a commendable example, with 2,386 enforcement actions leading to decreased fly-tipping incidents.

RCT council is taking a firm stand. “Fly-tipping will not be tolerated,” a council spokesperson declared. They’re resolute in their mission to hold offenders accountable and preserve the beauty of towns and villages. 🏘️

This environmental issue is not only ugly but costly. Each year, hundreds of thousands of pounds are spent cleaning it up—money that could otherwise enhance vital services. Sadly, 71% of fly-tipped waste is household rubbish, much of which could’ve been easily recycled. ♻️

To combat this menace, RCT has introduced new signs and is exploring advanced technology to deter would-be dumpers, particularly at hotspots like Bwlch Mountain. Collaborative efforts with local officials and teams are underway to keep these areas pristine. 🏞️

Heidi Pawlin from Fly-tipping Action Wales urges everyone to do their part: “If you’re paying someone to take your waste away, always check they have a licence with Natural Resources Wales.”

Let’s work together to keep our environment clean and our communities thriving! 🌍❤️
