📚 Exciting times in the book world! 📚

UK book sales are hitting impressive heights, especially in categories we didn’t expect. Quiz books and bibles have reached their highest sales figures since the 90s, with a whopping 24% and 19% increase respectively in 2025. Meanwhile, the average book price has climbed to a record £9.52 due to rising production costs and inflation.

Fiction fans, rejoice! This genre remains a standout performer, with sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and graphic novels taking the spotlight. Audiobooks, comic strips, and graphic novels also saw a popularity boost.
Top of the bestseller list? None other than Richard Osman with “The Impossible Fortune,” selling an astonishing 478,000 copies. Children’s author Julia Donaldson emerged as the UK’s best-selling author of 2025, with 3.3 million copies sold, leaving Freida McFadden and Dav Pilkey following closely behind.
Despite these achievements, non-fiction sales are facing challenges, reaching their lowest since 2014. However, the ongoing demand for trivia, quiz books, and religious titles shows our love for escapism and learning.
With the London Book Fair just around the corner and 2026 being the National Year Of Reading, there’s no better time to dive into a good book. Whether you’re a fan of heart-pounding fiction or passionate non-fiction, now’s the perfect moment to rekindle your love for reading.
