🚨 Energy Crisis Concerns in the UK! 🚨

Amidst rising energy crisis fears, it’s been claimed that the UK has just ‘two days’ worth of gas stored! 😱 Reports suggest that tankers carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) are being redirected from Europe to Asia due to ongoing tensions.

National Gas, which manages the country’s gas transmission system, revealed that Britain had 6,999 gigawatt hours (GWh) of gas stored earlier this month. While this might sound alarming compared to last year’s 9,105 GWh, there’s more to the story.
Did you know? Our maximum capacity is reportedly 12 days of gas storage. But even when levels dip, Britain is still receiving significant gas supplies from various sources! 🌍
According to National Gas, our gas storage isn’t the only supply source. The UK benefits from:
– The UK continental shelf
– Imports from Norway
– LNG shipments
– Interconnectors from continental Europe
These diverse sources help maintain a stable balance of supply and demand every day. 🇬🇧✨
Now, responding to the buzz, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero states that it’s “categorically untrue” that we only have access to two days of gas. They assure that the UK has a diverse and robust energy mix, and continues working with industry to ensure the future security of our energy supply.
It’s important to note: Gas prices have shot up significantly since tensions with Iran escalated, rising from 78.5p to 137p a therm. 📈 But rest assured, gas will remain an integral part of our energy system during this transition to clean, homegrown energy.
