π₯ Martin Lewis Takes on Energy Companies Over Price Hikes! π₯

Our favourite money-saving guru, Martin Lewis, isn’t pulling any punches when it comes to the shocking stories about energy companies cancelling orders amid skyrocketing heating oil prices. Since the conflict in the Middle East began, households in the UK have seen heating oil prices double in a week – from 56p to Β£1.17 per litre! π±

In a sit-down with energy secretary Ed Miliband, Martin voiced his concerns, labelling the situation “terrible” and highlighting that the usual tips like “comparison” and “collective buying” are falling short. Even more worrying is that we’re dealing with an unregulated, unprotected market which hits those in rural areas the hardest. π¨

But that’s not all. There’s another price storm brewing! β‘ While most consumer gas and electricity bills in the UK have some protection under the Energy Price Cap, the ongoing conflict is creating a “potential ticking cost time-bomb” for those on certain tariffs. Martin warns of a “lack of availability of cheap fixes,” meaning some may need to move temporarily to the Price Cap.
For those on time-of-use tariffs like Octopus Agile & Tracker, there’s the short-term option to switch to a Price Cap tariff. Although itβs not crisis mode just yet, Martin is urging everyone to stay informed and check for any restrictions if considering a switch.
