🎉 Big news for Gethin Jones! 🎉 The much-loved BBC Morning Live presenter has just landed an exciting new role as Team Wales’ chef de mission for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this July. 🏅
Gethin couldn’t contain his pride, saying, “I’ve worked hard for it!” After gaining a taste for the role back in 2018 as a team attaché, he was inspired to dive deeper. So much so, he returned to university, completed a Master’s degree in Sports Directorship, and immersed himself in various sports over several years to broaden his expertise.
As the leader of Team Wales, Gethin will be the guiding force, rallying athletes and support staff, and representing Wales at grand events. He’s already led Wales’ Commonwealth Day celebrations in Cardiff, bringing together young aspiring athletes and schoolchildren to ignite excitement for the Games.
Reflecting on his journey, Gethin said, “I look forward to working with our athletes, coaches, and support staff to deliver a performance that reflects the pride and passion of Wales.”
This role is a huge honour for Gethin, and Chair of Commonwealth Games Wales, Gareth Davies, couldn’t be more thrilled, praising Gethin’s professional and knowledgeable approach. With only 400 days to go, everyone is buzzing to get started!
Wishing Gethin and Team Wales all the best as they prepare to showcase their talent and passion on such an esteemed platform. Let’s cheer them on every step of the way! 🙌🏴 #TeamWales #CommonwealthGames #ProudToBeWelsh
