A Sainsbury’s manager from South Wales is £12,000 richer after winning a tribunal against his boss for a social media snub! 🎉 Darren Cooper, who was off work due to anxiety, felt “excluded, humiliated and violated” when a post celebrating male leaders at work neglected to mention him. 😔

His boss’s post honoured all the male leaders for showing up every day and providing top-notch guidance—everyone except Darren, that is. 📋 When asked why Darren was left out, the boss cited Darren’s absence from work and lack of contact via WhatsApp. Yet, this led to his claim for harassment and unfavourable treatment due to disability, with the tribunal ruling in his favour.

Darren, who has been part of the Sainsbury’s family since 1993 and affectionately says he has “orange blood,” managed the Pontypridd store until he went on sick leave in 2022. This omission from the appreciation post didn’t just hurt his feelings—it added to his health woes and prompted awkward questions from friends and colleagues. 🤦♂️

Despite some of his allegations being dismissed, the tribunal confirmed that his exclusion was a conscious decision by his boss because of Darren’s absence. This judgement resulted in the hefty compensation, including a sweet £7,500 just for the injury to his feelings. 💷❤️
