A shocking incident unfolded in Cardiff’s city centre when a taxi driver, Khalid Gadalseed, drove into pedestrian Ioan Williams while making a turn on Greyfriars Road. The collision left Ioan with severe injuries, including a broken leg that required plates, screws, and rods to mend. Ioan spent nine days in the hospital and faced the harrowing thought he might never walk again. After being discharged, he had to relocate to his mother’s home due to mobility issues and was left to grapple with the physical and emotional aftermath.

The injury led to the end of Ioan’s relationship and his inability to work, leaving him in persistent pain and under financial strain. He shared how he now lives with the daily consequences of the event, including the loss of independence and enduring psychological impacts.

In court, Gadalseed, who had no prior convictions, was found guilty of causing serious injury by careless driving. Despite expressing remorse and highlighting his responsibilities as the sole carer for his family, the judge stressed the significant impact of his lapse in concentration. Gadalseed received a six-month community order, a six-month curfew, and a 12-month driving ban.
It’s a reminder of how quickly a momentary lapse can change lives forever. Let’s all stay extra cautious on the roads and look out for one another to prevent such devastating incidents. 🚦💔 #StaySafe #CardiffNews #CommunityShare
