🚗⛽️ Attention drivers! Fuel duty hike alert! 🚨

With petrol prices already climbing due to the conflict in Iran, there’s added pressure on the government to rethink its plans to raise fuel duty this September. Keir Starmer has promised to keep the duty increase “under review,” as the Conservatives warn that higher fuel costs could worsen the cost-of-living crisis.
Kemi Badenoch, leader of the Conservative Party, highlighted how crucial affordable fuel is for her constituents in rural Essex, who rely heavily on their cars for everyday essentials. She challenged Starmer, accusing the government of treating drivers like a “cash cow” with the proposed tax rise.

Petrol’s already up by 6%, and diesel by nearly 9% since late February, according to RAC reports. The situation has brought fuel costs to the forefront of political debates, with Starmer maintaining that the duty will be frozen until September for now.
Aside from fuel price woes, tensions continue over the UK’s stance on military involvement in Iran, with Badenoch previously criticising Starmer’s approach for not aligning with US strikes—a stance she’d later change.
The conversation’s heating up as the political drama unfolds. What are your thoughts? Should the duty hike be scrapped? Let us know below! 🗣️💬 #FuelPrices #CostOfLiving #UKPolitics
