π¨ Fraud Alert! π¨ A serial romance fraudster has been sentenced to over five years in prison for conning three women out of nearly Β£50,000. π€―

Rodney Roberts, also known as “Paul Smith”, used dating apps like Tinder and Hinge to manipulate women by posing with fake names, accents, and jobs. From claiming to be an American attorney to a secret intelligence service agent, he spun elaborate tales to win their trustβand their money. π
His elaborate web of lies often included promises of high-return investments, urgent financial needs, and even fake family crises to coax money from his victims. One woman was scammed out of the Β£36,000 proceeds from her house sale, while others were tricked into parting with their savings with excuses ranging from car repairs to fake job offers.

The victims shared the emotional trauma they experienced, warning others to be cautious with online relationships. Detectives are urging everyone to stay vigilant to signs of romance fraud: unexpected requests for money, reluctance to meet face-to-face, and being swept off your feet with excessive flattery.
Roberts has been ordered to repay the stolen money, but for many victims, the psychological scars remain deeper than the financial losses. π΅οΈββοΈπ
