🏆🏉 Glantaf U14s Triumph in Rugby Battle, Crowned Best in Britain! 🏉🏆
A schoolboys’ rugby team from Cardiff has emerged victorious as British champions, defeating some of England’s most prestigious private schools. The talented squad from Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf lifted the School Sport Magazine National Schools U14 Rugby Cup with a stunning 39-12 win over Northampton School for Boys in the final.
Glantaf’s incredible journey to glory saw them dominate both Welsh and English rivals. They crushed Garth Olwg and Whitchurch High before taking down top English sides, including Collegiate School, Bristol and Stowe School. Their semi-final victory over the mighty Whitgift set them on the path to their thrilling final against Northampton.
Coach Rhydian Garner couldn’t be prouder of his squad, which he describes as “a talented bunch with some real standout individuals.” Despite injuries to key players, the boys delivered an extraordinary performance under pressure, showcasing their grit and skill.
Glantaf’s rich rugby heritage is a testament to its nurturing ground for future stars. With notable alumni like Jamie Roberts, Rhys Patchell, and Max Llewellyn, the school’s contribution to the rugby world is significant. And with current pupils already making waves in Wales U20s and U18s squads, the future looks bright!
As they gear up for the semi-finals of the Welsh Cup and the Rosslyn Park National Schools 7s, the U14s team seeks more triumph and glory. Coach Garner hopes to see many of these young talents following in footsteps of their illustrious predecessors and make their mark in international rugby.
Keep an eye on these rising stars as they aim to conquer new challenges—we’re sure they’ll continue making Cardiff proud! 🌟
