Thousands of Passengers in Wales Facing Major Disruption as Train Services Barred from Cardiff Central Station

🚨 Heads up, rugby fans! 🚨 If you’re headed to Cardiff for the Wales v Italy Six Nations match this Saturday, there’s an important travel change. Transport for Wales is trying out a new plan to tackle the post-match rush. Instead of heading back through Cardiff Central, those on the Cardiff, Valleys, and Vale lines should make their way to Cardiff Queen Street, just a quick 15-minute stroll from the stadium.

This shift is due to the massive £140 million revamp of Cardiff Central that’s getting started. By diverting traffic and creating individual route queues, Transport for Wales promises quicker boarding and less waiting time. Their goal? A smart, smooth ride home while alleviating the usual chaos at the central station.

Georgina Porter of Transport for Wales explains, “It’s about making sure everyone gets home quickly and safely. We’re excited to pilot this approach and look forward to engaging with fans on the day.”

Queuing opens from 6pm at both Cardiff Central and Queen Street stations. Accessibility services remain at Cardiff Central for those who need them, so everyone is taken care of. If you’re travelling to destinations like Aberdare, Barry, Caerphilly, or Merthyr Tydfil, head to Queen Street. Meanwhile, trains to London, Newport, and Swansea will still depart from Cardiff Central.

Let’s make this trial a success and enjoy the match day without the usual travel chaos. Bring on the game! 🏉🎉

Safe travels, and let the rugby festivities begin! 🏆✨
