Heartbreaking Loss: Paria Veisi’s Life Cut Short

Paria Veisi’s dreams of a fresh start were tragically stolen by her estranged husband, Alireza Askari, in a shocking act of violence. Desperate to control her even as she sought a divorce, Askari’s jealousy led to a brutal murder, ending Paria’s vibrant life in the conservatory of her former home.

A Cardiff Crown Court judge sentenced Askari, 42, to life imprisonment, mandating at least 25 years behind bars. His accomplice, Maryam Delavary, 48, who helped clean up and conceal the crime, received five years and six months.
Friends and family gathered in grief, remembering Paria as incredibly kind, loving, and full of life. Her radiant smile and vibrant personality brought joy to everyone around her, a light that Askari’s heinous actions could never dim.
Heart-wrenching details of the crime emerged: Paria, ambushed by Askari with kitchen knives bought specifically for her murder, had no chance to defend herself. After the attack, Askari attempted to cover his tracks, even pretending Paria was simply away on holiday.
Yet through this unimaginable sorrow, some justice prevails. Paria’s loved ones find a sliver of solace knowing that Askari will face the consequences of his actions.
Paria’s sister, Heliya Veysi, speaks of a wound that will never heal, but acknowledges the importance of seeking justice. The community, alongside South Wales Police and the judicial system, rallied with dedication to ensure accountability for this horrific crime.
As we remember Paria, let’s cherish her for more than a victim. She was a beloved daughter, sister, and friend, whose kindness and energy left lasting impressions. We hold her memory dear, determined to honour the life and light that was unfairly extinguished.
