Terrifying scenes unfolded in Colwyn Bay when a man brandished a knife, leaving one girl fearing for her life. Kyle Jones, 23, threatened a group of youngsters in the town centre, forcing them to flee to safety. However, one girl was caught outside, facing Jones’s menacing threats as he waved the knife, yelling, “I will show you who I am.”
All this took place on Abergele Road. Thanks to quick-thinking council CCTV operators, police were alerted, and officers rushed to the scene. Bodycam footage shows the dramatic moment as officers restrained and arrested Jones, aided by firearms officers. Despite being handcuffed, Jones continued to hurl threats, adding to the chilling encounter.
The court heard that Jones had no fixed abode and had a history of carrying knives. Judge Timothy Petts acknowledged Jones’s troubling past and deemed him a high risk to others, leaving no option but a custodial sentence. On Friday, Jones was sentenced to 20 months in prison at Caernarfon Crown Court after admitting to threatening with a bladed article.
North Wales Police reaffirmed their commitment to keeping the community safe, vowing to take down those who put others at risk. It’s a stark reminder of the dangers out there and the importance of staying vigilant. Stay safe, everyone!
