🏉 Rugby Drama! Bonymaen RFC were set for a thrilling West Wales Cup semi-final against Ammanford RFC, but plans took an unexpected turn. Just hours before the big match, they were removed from the competition – talk about last-minute!

Bonymaen had hoped to reschedule the match, asking for a mere 24-hour delay to field their best players, but the request was sadly denied. Injuries and player commitments left the Swansea side unable to form a full team as per the competition’s rules. The club was left in quite the pickle since the rules prohibited them from using their Athletic team players due to league commitments.

In a heartfelt statement, Bonymaen expressed their letdown but stood by the competition’s regulations. Still, there’s a glimmer of hope as the rugby committee acknowledges the need to revisit these rules in light of shifting dynamics in community rugby.
Meanwhile, Ammanford RFC advance straight to the final, set to face Ystradgynlais after their nail-biting 18-17 win over Felinfoel RFC. Bonymaen and Ammanford know each other well, having already clashed twice this season, each taking home a victory. The missed encounter surely would have been a cracker!
Despite this setback, Bonymaen are not dwelling on it. This weekend promises action as their first team hosts Tondu RFC, while their Athletic side takes on Cowbridge RFC in the WRU Division 4 Cup semi-final.
Here’s hoping the West Wales Rugby Union takes a closer look at the current competition rules – onwards and upwards for Bonymaen RFC! #RugbyUnion #BonymaenRFC #CommunityRugby #WestWalesCup
