Ireland’s Bundee Aki has finally answered the big question about his international rugby future! Despite rumours linking him with a move to the Newcastle Red Bulls, Aki has decided to extend his stay with the Irish Rugby Football Union for another year. This news comes as a relief to fans, following his ban during the Six Nations for “verbal abuse and disrespect” towards match officials.

Now 36, Aki has been a cornerstone for Ireland, securing three Six Nations titles and two Grand Slams. He made a late return to the International scene in the last Six Nations game against Scotland, after missing out on the first four matches due to a ban stemming from a tense encounter against Leinster in January.

In addition to Aki’s extension, Dan Sheehan, Jamison Gibson-Park, and Josh van der Flier have also committed to the IRFU, with contracts ranging from two to three years. Head coach Andy Farrell expressed his excitement at the news, highlighting the players’ significant contributions and leadership qualities.

As Ireland eyes next year’s Rugby World Cup, these re-signings demonstrate the team’s dedication and ambition. Fans can look forward to watching these star players continue to shine on the international stage and help drive Irish rugby to new heights. 🏉☘️
