“Initial diagnosis of migraines turns into life-threatening condition for man”

After suffering from debilitating headaches for ten years, Luke Taylor was finally given answers—but it was the news no one wants to hear. For years, doctors shrugged off Luke’s pain as mere migraines. But when his symptoms worsened dramatically, he pushed for an MRI, unveiling a shocking diagnosis: a rare brain tumour called a haemangioblastoma.

A civil engineer from Warrington, Luke had been dealing with severe headaches and constant sickness. He recalls the racing thoughts and fear upon hearing he might only have days to live without immediate surgery. Fortunately, specialists at Walton Hospital removed the tumour during a gruelling nine-hour operation. Yet, complications led to more surgeries, and Luke faced an arduous recovery journey, having to relearn basic skills like walking and speaking.

His partner, Nia Jones, describes those months as some of the hardest. But amid the setbacks came a breakthrough in November 2025—the entire tumour had been removed. Now, regular scans every six months will ensure any return is caught early.
