👩🎓 Big News for Carmarthenshire! 🎓
Coleg Sir Gar’s Pibwrlwyd Campus is getting a major facelift with a whopping £90m investment! 🏗️ This ambitious project will see the construction of four brand-new buildings, ready to host 3,340 students and 270 staff. From cutting-edge workshops to a spacious library, the campus aims to align education with the skills of tomorrow, including green technologies and electric vehicle maintenance.
But it’s not all smooth sailing… 🌳🌿 Some locals aren’t thrilled about the loss of trees and potential impact on wildlife. Concerns have also been raised over the historic Pibwrlwyd Farmhouse and increased traffic in the area.
Despite the mixed reactions, the project promises to revitalise education in the region and help retain local talent. With plans for state-of-the-art facilities, including a gym and multi-use games area, students are in for a treat!
The two-phase development is set to kick off between 2027 and 2029. While the changes mean other campuses in Ammanford and Jobs Well will see a shift, the college assures there’s no gap in learning provision.
