Shocking Family Drama in Cardiff: A son has brutally attacked his own mother while they were in a car and sent her a chilling photo of himself holding a gun afterwards. Courtney Reffell, aged 34, lashed out during an argument with his mum, Janine, leaving her with severe injuries. After the altercation, he sent her a photo wearing a balaclava and holding what seemed to be a gun, accompanied by a terrifying message: “I am going to shoot him dead now, fully loaded.”

It all happened on a seemingly normal day last June when Courtney was a passenger in his mother’s car en route to pick up a friend. An argument sparked between Courtney and his friend, leading to the violence. Despite Janine’s attempts to diffuse the situation, she ended up being the target of her son’s anger. After the attack, she needed hospital treatment for a serious lip injury.
Courtney, with a history of convictions, was later arrested hiding at home. In court, he pled guilty to the charges of wounding and inflicting grievous bodily harm. While his past record includes charges of battery and harassment, he seems determined to turn over a new leaf. His lawyer mentioned that he acknowledges the damage done and is striving to mend his relationship with his mother, crediting sobriety for helping him focus on positive change.

The sentencing concluded with a 16-month prison term, suspended for two years, along with requirements for rehabilitation, mental health treatment, and substance abuse therapy. Here’s hoping he follows through and that his family finds peace and reconciliation.
