Friends and family of Jade Bird, a vibrant mum from Abergele, are rallying together as she battles meningitis in Tenerife. Jade, 33, fell seriously ill while waiting to board a flight home and was rushed to hospital, where she was put into an induced coma. A scan revealed a brain infection had developed into meningitis. Her loved ones are desperate to get her back to the UK.

Jade’s family, already in Tenerife at her side, are calling for support through a GoFundMe to raise funds for a medical evacuation flight. The costs are staggering, potentially up to £100,000, but more than £9,300 has already been raised thanks to generous donations.
Jade’s sister-in-law, Victoria, and her mum, Janine, describe this ordeal as heartbreaking. They’re in a foreign land facing not only the language barrier but also the emotional struggle of possibly leaving Jade behind due to financial constraints. The urgency to bring Jade home to her young daughter, Skyla, has only intensified.

Updates from the hospital paint a concerning picture. Although Jade is starting to awaken, her neurological responses aren’t as strong as hoped. She’s scheduled for an MRI and EEG to assess brain swelling and damage.

Friend Jo McIver shared: “Jade remains sedated to prevent agitation. The doctors are closely monitoring her.” She thanks everyone who’s shared the fundraising page and sent warm wishes, saying, “Every share brings us closer to bringing Jade home.”
If you’re able to lend a hand, it means the world to Jade’s family. Your support could be the turning point in getting her home to continue recovery surrounded by loved ones. Please continue to spread the word and consider donating.
Victoria poignantly adds, “Jade is bubbly, kind-hearted, and always ready to help others. Now she needs us. We can’t bear the thought of leaving her here alone.”
Every bit of support counts. Let’s help bring Jade back home where she belongs.
