Game of Thrones fans, get ready! The highly-anticipated season three of House of the Dragon is coming this June, and the buzz is real. While the Targaryens battle for power in Westeros, the show’s real-life action is happening right here in Wales! Several iconic spots across North Wales are stealing the spotlight as the perfect backdrop for the epic drama.

The series has chosen some breathtaking locations like Anglesey’s Beaumaris Pier, Craig Yr Undeb in Gwynedd, and the serene Ffynnon Llugwy in Eryri National Park. Executive producer, Kevin De La Noy, praised the Welsh landscape for adding “visual power and vibrant dimension” to their storytelling. Although the plot’s specifics are under wraps, these stunning sites promise to provide the dramatic atmosphere fans love.

Wales’ reputation as a prime filming destination is growing. From Harry Potter to James Bond, the region has hosted some top-tier productions. Added to this, our local talent is getting a turn in the spotlight too. The shoot has provided opportunities for countless Welsh locals to dive into TV and film production with support from Creative Wales. Trainee placements in costume, set decoration, camera, and sound offer invaluable experience while supporting local jobs and skills.
Minister Jack Sargeant highlighted this collaboration, noting that North Wales’ beauty is showcased globally, boosting our standing as a leading filming destination. So, not only are you getting epic battles on screen, but you’re also supporting local talent and industries!
