🚨 Troubled Cardiff House Closed Down 🚨

A notorious property on Planet Street, Adamsdown, has been boarded up after becoming a hotspot for drug use, violence, and causing distress among locals. South Wales Police, in collaboration with Cardiff Community Housing Association (CCHA), took decisive action to close the home under the Antisocial Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014. This move aims to restore peace to the neighbourhood, long plagued by drug dealings and the ensuing “climate of intimidation and fear.”

PC Rachael Shortis, from the neighbourhood policing team, revealed that non-residents had been using the house as a base for dealing crack cocaine and heroin, significantly affecting tenants and community safety. Despite exploring other options, the authorities decided a closure notice was vital to curb the disorder.
The closure order, approved by Cardiff Magistrates’ Court, prohibits anyone from entering the property for the next three months. The tenant will not return, ensuring the community can finally experience improved quality of life and safety.
Director of Housing and Communities at CCHA, Kirsty Ellis, praised the successful partnership with local police forces, crediting Sergeant Bleddyn Jones’s proactive Roath team. She emphasised their commitment to balancing enforcement with compassion, offering support for long-term positive outcomes.
Sergeant Jones reiterated the neighbourhood policing team’s dedication to tackling antisocial behaviour and criminal activity, promising continued cooperation with housing providers and residents to keep the community safe.
Cardiff’s community can now breathe a sigh of relief as they look forward to a safer, more peaceful environment. 🌿🔒
