🚗⚠️ “Absolutely Frightening” Road Alert!

One of the most notorious roads in Wales, the A48 in Carmarthenshire, has been highlighted as ‘absolutely frightening’ following discussions in the Senedd. Adam Price, Member of the Senedd for Carmarthen West and Dinefwr, didn’t hold back on expressing concerns about the road’s shocking safety record.
Dubbed one of Wales’ most dangerous routes, the A48 has been the scene of almost 900 crashes over a decade. Just last year alone, there were 186 collisions! 😲

This alarming statistic has spurred a long-overdue response. It was back in March 2020 that the Welsh Government began studying the road’s safety issues, but only recently have measures been announced to transform this perilous path. Plans include a brand-new roundabout aimed at reducing risks, giving road users some peace of mind.
Addressing the Senedd, Adam Price shared his fears, especially when driving with family, labelling the experience “completely unacceptable.” And he’s calling for these changes to be made swiftly!

In reply, the cabinet secretary for transport, Ken Skates, acknowledged the delays but assured that significant road improvements are on the horizon. He remains hopeful that these changes will be pushed forward at pace by the next government.
With the Senedd election approaching, will these promises see rapid action? 🗳️ Stay tuned and stay safe out there!
